THE 30 DAY MINIMALISM GAME
I FAILED...BUT I'M OKAY WITH THAT

At the beginning on January, I wrote a post full of hope on the subject of Minimalism. I planned to follow a Minimalism challenge, or game, that would rid my life of quite a bit of clutter. I started off with grand plans...and then life got in the way. I kept forgetting to find the right amount of items to get rid of each day, and then it all just became a bit of a chore. Instead of enjoying my Minimalism journey, I was beginning to hate finding items to get rid of.

After the first week I had made a huge dent in ridding my wardrobe of unnecessary items, and I had also sold some old baby bits that my daughter didn't need anymore. I'd also sorted through all my shoes, and I now have a smaller collection that brings me plenty of joy. I decided just after a week in that instead of finding a certain amount of items, I was just going to focus on a different area at a time. I started with my wardrobe, and I am now really happy with the items that I own. I think I donated about two-three black sacks worth of clothes, so I was definitely hanging on to things that I really didn't need in my life.

I've decided that the pressure of a game, or challenge, just isn't for me when it comes to getting rid of stuff. Instead I'm just going to focus on a different area of my house, or life and completely clear that out. As I said, I've done my wardrobe, and I'm thinking of doing a post about how I organise it. I actually share a wardrobe with my husband, so we can't own too many clothes anyway! I've also cleared our office out, which was mostly being used as a store room. I am now able to sit at my desk to write! I'm also thinking of doing a post about my office too.

The last area we worked on this month is my daughter's nursery. At the moment she is in the box room of the house, so we don't have too much space to work with. We are really happy with how we have used the space in her room, and I am going to write about this too. I have so many plans for posts on the house, and how we are making it our own home.

Yes, I failed the minimalism game, but I don't think I have failed at decluttering my life and taking a more minimalist approach to my life. I think it has actually been successful as I am now thinking about what I am actually using, and want, in my life. I even spent less money this month on "stuff" to fill up the house!

If you would like posts on how I organise my home (or how I am trying to...I'm just a beginner), please let me know in the comments, or on one of my social media networks. I'd also love to read about your minimalism journeys, so please leave me links!

REMEMBER TO ALWAYS ENJOY THE LITTLE THINGS, NO MATTER HOW MUNDANE THEY ARE!
