THE 30 DAY MINIMALISM GAME
AN INTRODUCTION

I have been reading about minimalism, and watching videos on the subject for a few months now, and it is something that really interests me. I love the idea of owning less, and having a happier life without the need for so much stuff, and so I've decided that 2017 is the year to rid my life of all the clutter. I recently watched a documentary on Netflix about minimalism and loved the message that was being given. I ventured on to the website of the guys who were featured in the documentary and came across a post about the 30 day minimalism game.

The 30 day minimalism game involves getting rid of items you no longer want in your life, or items that serve you no purpose or bring no joy to your life. The idea of the game is to start by getting rid of one item on day one, two items on day two, three items on day three, and so on until you hit 30 days. By the end you will have rid your life of 465 items! I'm planning on starting the cycle back up every month until I am left with the items that bring me joy and I don't want to part with anymore. I want to be able to say that I genuinely don't want to get rid of any of my belongings.

Here are the rules of my very own challenge:

- Each item will either be sold, donated or thrown away.
- I may not be able to sell items straight away, so I am saying that they must be up for sale by the end of the 30 days.

The main questions I will be asking myself during this challenge each month is "Does this item bring me joy", "Does the item have a purpose in my life", "Have I used the item within the last year". This will help me to get rid of items that I may be hoarding for sentimental reasons, but really don't need to keep hold of.

My husband has also decided to take part in the challenge, so I will also try and take photos of his items, and I will also be doing it with our daughter's items, as she has outgrown a lot of her clothes and toys.

Have you tried the minimalism game? If you have, I would love to read about it so please leave a link below!
