OUR WINTER SUN FAMILY TRAVEL BUCKET LIST

Although we feel that Elise is a bit to young to travel abroad and we have been enjoying our UK breaks, particularly Butlins Just for Tots weeks, we do have a list of places we would like to travel to when she is a bit older. We plan to go away for Christmas each year to a sunnier environment and enjoy some all inclusive perks. We will probably wait until Elise is around four years old to travel on a plane as it is already stressful for us with us both having Epilepsy, so we need to be able to get some rest on the plane, especially is it is a long flight. I thought I would share some of the destinations we would like to travel to, particularly in the Winter season.

FAMILY CRUISE TO THE CARIBBEAN

Relaxing on a beach sounds perfect, and a cruise is something we have always wanted to do. We are happy enough to fly to another destination in Europe to board the boat and set sail for a sunnier climate. Of course we would want to go on a family friendly cruise ship, and luckily there are companies such as P&O who are very family friendly. I have used P&O to travel to France when I was younger and I remember that they had plenty of activities, so I expect a larger cruise liner would have countless activities for everyone to enjoy. Plus you would get to see some amazing islands in the Caribbean and enjoy that winter sun.

DISNEY WORLD IN FLORIDA

We never went to Disney World as children, so this is something that we definitely want to do as a family. I think we will wait until Elise is around 7 so she can enjoy more of the rides, but still loves the magic of the characters. Although saying that, at the moment Elise is scared of dressed up characters, so hopefully that will change. We’re hoping to spend a few weeks in Disney over the Christmas period to really experience all of the magic. Plus for us the summer months will be a bit too hot, as one of my triggers for my Epilepsy is heat

SKIING IN WHISTLER, VANCOUVER

Both my husband and I have been skiing in our teen years and loved it, so again this is something that we are keen to do as a family. We really want Elise to be able to experience a variety of different holidays, and although you have to wrap up for skiing, I would still class it as a Winter Sun holiday. I know that the sun is usually shining and you can still get a tan from the sun reflecting on the snow. We have been skiing in Europe before, but I really want to visit Canada at some point so adding in skiing would be a nice bonus. Although I know how to ski, I would also like to have a go at snowboarding, even though my husband doesn’t agree!

We would also be able to enjoy activities like ice skating whilst there, and this is something I would really enjoy as I used to attend ice skating lessons when I was younger.

LUXURY ALL INCLUSIVE HOLIDAY IN MEXICO

We would love to go on an all inclusive holiday that is tailored to families. We think that Elise would enjoy attending a kids club during the day, and it will also give us a chance to have some couple time. We don’t have family nearby so don’t get any time off from parenting, which also means we don’t get to spend much time as a couple outside of the house. With all inclusive, you don’t have to worry about spending too much money whilst you are there, and it is nice to know that you can have a drink or food when you want to. It’s nice to have some sort of timetable when you have children as they like a bit of a routine, even if they are on holiday…especially Elise who runs like clockwork when it comes to a schedule!

There are many more places that we would like to go to as a family, and there are lots of places closer to home that we would like to go. Places like Scotland, Bruges, Prague and other cities in Europe. I think we will save these for the slightly warmer months though. We’d also like to take the long trip to Australia, but I think we will wait until Elise is a teenager so she can really get the best out of the holiday.

What is your favourite Winter Sun destination?
Where is somewhere that you would really like to travel to?
