I think there are plenty of beautiful girls names that are inspired by flowers, so this portion of this post was very easy for me to write. There are plenty of very mainstream baby girl names inspired by flowers too that you hear on a regular basis. Names like Daisy and Poppy are becoming more popular, and I know a number of people who have recently used these names. Boys names are always harder for me to think of, and I think that most names that I like are quite mainstream. If they aren't mainstream, my name choices are pretty out there and my husband hates them, so I'm quite glad we ended up having a girl as we agreed on her name!
Here is my list:

JESSAMINE
This is the French version of Jasmine and is used as a girl's name. Jasmine is genus of shrubs and vines in the olive family.
OLIVE
This name has evolved from the name Oliva. The olive flower is dainty, white and has four petals resembling a star. The olive branch has long been a symbol of peace.
HAZEL
Although this is most commonly thought of as a tree, there is also the "witch hazel" plant. The origin of the name is English and dates back to 9th Century.
ASTER
I first heard this name in the television series "Dexter". I had heard Astor, which is commonly a boy's name, by Aster was a girl character in the programme. Aster is a small, delicate flower and the name Aster means Star.

JUNIPER
This has to be one of my favourite names, but I didn't even suggest it to my husband as I knew he would hate it! It is Latin and means "youth producing" or "evergreen". I think that is just such a beautiful meaning and I would shorten it to Juno (another of my favourite names)
MOSS
One of the few boys names on my list. It is so much easier to think of girl's names in general for me, and then add in a theme and I got a little bit stuck. I do really like the name Moss, but my husband thought it was too American and didn't think it worked well in England. He also said it was more like a surname. It means saved from the water and is actually an English name!
WILLIAM
Yes a very mainstream name, but I really like it. I love it being shortened to Bill and of course it is related to flowers as there is the sweet William flower.
LAVENDER
This name instantly reminds me of the film Matilda! I think it is such a sweet name but I don't think I would be a cool enough parent to actually use it and pull it off. The name has french and latin origins.
What are your favourite baby names inspired by flowers?
