Easter Weekend Readathon : What I'm Reading

Today I came across a readathon that is taking place over the Easter weekend and promptly decided that I would get involved. I'm trying to get back into reading more, and reaching for a book instead of my laptop in the evenings. I seem to get tempted in by Youtube and Netflix, and end up aimlessly scrolling through social media and buzzfeed, when I could be dedicating that time to reading. Easter is a four day weekend, so it gives me plenty of time to read amongst spending time with my husband and two year old daughter.

Here is my little TBR (to be read) for the weekend:

Three books on a marble background. Frat Girl, Goodbye Perfect and forever words

Frat Girl - Kiley Roache*

There's more than one F word...

For Cassandra Davis, the F-word is fraternity – specifically Delta Tau Chi. Accused of sexist behaviour, they have one year to clean up their act. With one shot at a scholarship to attend the university of her dreams, Cassie pitches a research project – to pledge Delta Tau Chi and provide proof of their misogynistic behaviour. After all, they’re frat boys. Exposing them should be a piece of cake. But the boys of Delta Tau Chi are nothing like she expected and soon, with her heart and future tangled in the web of her own making, Cassie realises that the F-word might not be as simple as she thought after all.

Frat Girl is due to be released in the UK on 5th April 2018.

Goodbye, Perfect - Sara Barnard

Eden McKinley knows she can’t count on much in this world, but she can depend on Bonnie, her solid, steady, straight-A best friend. So it’s a bit of a surprise when Bonnie runs away with a guy Eden knows nothing about five days before the start of their GCSEs. And it's the last person she would have expected.

Sworn to secrecy and bound by loyalty, only Eden knows Bonnie’s location, and that’s the way it has to stay. There’s no way she’s betraying her best friend. Not even when she’s faced with police questioning, suspicious parents and her own growing doubts. As the days pass and things begin to unravel, Eden is forced to question everything she thought she knew about the world, her best friend and herself.

Goodbye, Perfect is available now.

Forever Words : The Unknown Poems - Johnny Cash*

Since his first recordings in 1955, Johnny Cash has been an icon in the music world. In his newly discovered poems and song lyrics, we see the world through his eyes. The poetry reveals his depth of understanding, both of the world around him and within - his frailties and his strengths alike. He pens verses in his hallmark voice, reflecting upon love, pain, freedom, fame and mortality.

Illustrated with facsimile reproductions of Cash's own handwritten pages, Forever Words is a remarkable new addition to the canon of one of America's heroes. His music is a part of our collective history, but here he demonstrates the depth of his talent as a writer.

Edited and introduced by Paul Muldoon, with a foreword by John Carter Cash, this is a book sure to delight and surprise fans the world over.

Forever Words is available now.

the spines of the three books mentioned in the post

These are the three books I plan to read over the weekend, and I'll be writing up reviews of each book in the future. I am taking part in a blog tour for Frat Girl, so my review for this will be up on 16th April 2018 so make sure you check back for that! I'll leave links to all the reviews on this post once they are live also. I'll write a post at the end of the readathon to let you know how I got on, and whether I completed my TBR.

If you are taking part this weekend, I'd love to keep up to date with you. I'll be checking the #EasterReadathon tag on twitter regularly. This readathon was set up by @katelovescolour so make sure you go and follow her over on twitter and check out her blog post about the event.
