GETTING READY FOR PRESCHOOL WITH VAMPIRINA

Elise turns 3 in November, so we thought it was about time that she started attending a local preschool for a few mornings each week. She already goes to a childminder once a week so that she can socialise with other children, but we really wanted to get her into the routine of going to a preschool regularly and being around a larger number of children. Elise seems really excited, and couldn't wait to get a new bag ready for preschool. We lucked out when we were offered some products from the Disney Vampirina range to review, and I couldn't wait to see Elise's face when I gave her her brand new big girl bag.

We were not familiar with the Vampirina character before we were sent the Bootastic Backpack Set and the Spooky Scooter Set. I have to admit that we don't watch very much television. In fact, we don't even have a television plugged in. Elise does love anything to do with monsters or halloween though, so I knew that they would be a hit.

DISNEY VAMPIRINA BOOTASTIC BACKPACK SET

Retailing for £24.99, the Vampirina Bootastic Backpack Set includes a backpack, funky glasses, hair accessories, a keyring and a funky light up talking necklace. The necklace is probably Elise's favourite part of the set purely because it makes noise! The backpack is plastic and so it is nice and solid. Nothing is going to get squashed in this backpack, so it is the perfect back to school bag. It is a smaller bag, so perfect for younger children off to preschool or the early years of primary. It is also the perfect size for carrying a packed lunch. The bag has a single strap, so it can be carried over one shoulder. We did find that this wasn't ideal for Elise, as she is on the small side and found it a bit heaver on one shoulder, but I think it would be suitable for other children her age.

The backpack has been a huge talking point when we have taken it out. Other children seem to love it, and a few of them have spoken to us about Vampirina. The thing I love most about the show is that it encourages friendship, and the bag is such a great conversation starter so will definitely help Elise on her friendship quest.

Elise will only be going to Preschool for two mornings a week, and only for a few hours per day, so she doesn't need to carry much in her bag. We will be getting the bus to preschool each day, so she does need to carry a snack and a drink with her. The other thing that she needs are some slippers, as she has to change into them when she gets to preschool. These items fit great in the backpack, and there is still room to take some accessories along, and even the Vampirina Spooky Scooter Set. I think that the bag will look great hanging up on her peg, and we won't be getting it confused with anyone else's bag!

DISNEY VAMPIRINA SPOOKY SCOOTER SET

Retailing for £11.99, the Vampirina Spooky Scooter Set includes a figure, scooter and a spooky friend. There are two sets to collect, either Poppy or Vampirina so are great for sharing with a friend. You can attach Vampirina or Poppy to the scooter, and then their spooky friends can attach to the little skateboard on the back of the scooter. Elise loves this little scooter set, and it also fits into the backpack. She keeps going back to the scooter set as it doesn't have any small and tricky parts to attach. All the parts are very solid and easy to hold, and she doesn't have trouble attaching the figures to the scooter and the skateboard. I think she'll be adding the other spooky scooter set to her birthday list!

DISNEY VAMPIRINA BOO FIGURE ASSORTMENT (BLIND BAGS)*

If your child is anything like mine, they will be obsessed with blind bags. Elise loves watching other people open blind bags (something I just don't see the fascination with!) and finding them in the shops. She always wants to spend her pocket money on them, and sometimes they can be pretty expensive. The Vampirina blind bags retail for £2.99 and there are 12 characters to collect. They are brightly coloured and are perfect for either playing with, or displaying. The thing I love most about blind bags is how they are such a social activity. I can see Elise wanting to trade characters with her friends as she gets older so that she can collect a full set. We will be looking out for the blind bags next time we go shopping with her pocket money.
