5 MONEY SAVING TIPS THAT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY ON HOLIDAY

When it comes to spending money, I'm a bit of a bargain hunter. I love to use money saving sites to gain cash back on purchases, and I also enter lots of competitions to win extra luxuries for my family.  I'm always on the hunt for money saving tips, so I thought I'd share some little tips with you today. They are not going to make you a millionaire, but every little bit of extra money helps...especially when you have children!

CASHBACK SITES

I have only just recently started using cash back sites, and I have no idea why I didn't use them before. You simply shop via their site, and any purchases that you make from your favourite sites offer cash back. If you are thinking of changing your television package, or getting a new phone. It is worth browsing sites like TopCashBack as you can always make some money back. One of my friends has saved around £1000 this year by using these types of sites. This will help you build up a little bit of emergency money for those unexpected expenses, if you take a look at this research you can see that the most common unexpected expenses are things like pet bills and unexpected bills. Using cash back sites means that you can save a little bit of money up for emergencies like these.

COMPETITIONS AND GIVEAWAYS

In the past I've won cash, holidays and even some great technology prizes. Competitions are free to enter, and are a great way to add those little luxuries to your life with minimal effort. Anyone can enter competitions, and you can find them everywhere. There's often promotions on items that you would buy with your regular food shop, and with social media you are bound to find lots to enter. Now is the perfect time to pick up a new comping hobby as during December, lots of companies run Advent calendars with new prizes every day. My favourite place to enter competitions is Instagram, and I use Competition Database to find new ones to enter. Bloggers are always running giveaways on their site too, so make sure you follow your favourite ones over on twitter.

ATM LOCATOR

ATM locator is an amazing app that shows you where the free cash withdrawal machines are. If you are like me, you will hate having to pay charges to take your own money out of the bank. This is such a simple app and although it only saves you a couple of quid at a time, it makes me feel great knowing that I'm not wasting money on ATM charges. The ATM Locator App works worldwide, which is great when you are on holiday and trying to get hold of a bit of extra cash. Adding fees on top of local currency conversion can get expensive, and I recently used the app on a trip to LA to find places where the charges would be minimal.

USING A TRAVEL MONEY CARD ABROAD

Speaking of going abroad, when I visited LA in June, I decided to use a Prepaid currency card for my spending money. I was able to use it in all the shops and restaurants and I could use the app to track how much was left on my card. The great thing about using a prepaid card is that you can purchase different currencies. This means that you won't get a fee every time you use the card. You simply buy your dollars and then any purchase you make will be in that currency. I found that taking cash out from an ATM was so much cheaper this way too, and I could use the card anywhere. Any more left over can be converted back to your own currency when you return back home.

LYFT/UBER

I use Uber when I am in London, but when I went to America I opted for Lyft and found that I preferred it. I was able to use my prepaid card to pay for my rides, and found it so convenient when I didn't want to use public transport. I really enjoyed getting to know my drivers, and Lyft encourages it's drivers to talk to their passengers. I learnt so much about different places to visit in the area. Local knowledge really added to my trip. They were very consistent and I never had to wait very long for my driver to arrive. It wasn't too expensive to use, and I liked that I felt safe in the vehicles too.

These are just 5 little money saving tips for when it comes to travelling. They will not save you millions, but it's the little things that really help and I'm all for making life easy! What are your top tips for saving money on holiday?
