Epilepsy - My Hidden Daily Struggles (Update)

13 Nov 2019

*Disclosure - This is a paid collaboration*

Back in 2017, I wrote about all the hidden daily struggles that I have due to some of my disabilities, mainly Epilepsy. Quite a bit has changed since that post, both disability wise and within my personal life, so I thought I would do a little update post on how things have changed, and how I have been adapting to the changes. Since my last post about my daily struggles, I actually had a seizure again so wasn't able to drive for a year - luckily though I haven't had another one since and have been seizure free for a while again now...plus I can drive again! I'm also currently going through diagnosis for problems with my hips, and also waiting for an Autism assessment and diagnosis. So many things to update you all on!

Turning a Toddler Room into a Room for a Child

12 Nov 2019

I can't believe that I am saying this, but Elise is about to turn four! It has been an amazing four years, and she has grown and changed so much. We are so proud of her every day, and she really has turned into my little best friend. With Elise turning four, we know that we will soon need to update her room a little bit, so we've been on the hunt for some new furniture and bits and pieces to make her room magical. I thought I would share a little dream wish list with you, for items we would love for her, and some that we will actually be purchasing.

When it comes to collectible toys, and surprise bags, there seems to be a limitless amount of options. One of those options are the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles. It just so happens that Elise is just a little bit obsessed with these cute characters that come in little surprise eggs for you to hatch. She has a large selection, and they were top of her Birthday and Christmas list this year. In fact we have already purchased some ready for her birthday at the end of November. One of the things that was top of her list was the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Glitter Salon Playset, so when we were given the opportunity to test it out and review it, we jumped at the chance.

Going on holiday is costly enough but for anyone with a disability it can be even more expensive. This is because some people may need to organise special transport arrangements, accessible accommodation, extra mobility equipment and maybe even pay for additional carers to come with them.

It can be especially difficult if you are a person with a disability on a low income, making it seem that going on holiday is impossible. To show you how to make the most of what you have, here are some  tips on how to travel with a disability and save money.

#PethoodStories - Ralph the Shih Tzu

4 Jul 2019

This post is in conjunction with Petplan but all thoughts are my own.

Growing up, I always wanted a dog, and I knew that when I had a child, I wanted them to grow up with a dog as part of the family. Getting a dog became even more important to me when I discovered that I have ASD (I'm currently undergoing official diagnosis, but I have all the characteristics). I suffer quite badly from anxiety, and I really struggle to make human friends, so having a fluffy companion is something that I crave, and so we decided it was time to add a new family member to our pack. This is where Ralph comes in. Ralph is our new Shih Tzu puppy, and is currently 11 weeks old. Although he has only been part of our family for a short time, he has made his mark, and has already been a huge help for myself and our daughter, especially during meltdowns and hard times with ASD. I thought I would share a bit all about Ralph, and why a Shih Tzu is the perfect breed for our family.

10 things to do on a Family day out in Birmingham (that won't break the bank)

When it comes to days out in a city, the cost is often the first thing that comes up in a discussion. It's easy to spend lots of money in a short space of time on a family day out, or a family weekend in the city. We recently spent the day in Birmingham, exploring the different activities that are on offer, and that won't break the bank. We set ourselves a budget (which mostly went on food, and travel costs) and managed to enjoy a full day out without spending very much money. In fact, the activities part of the day, including a yummy treat in the afternoon, only set us back £30.

Magical Readathon 2019 - O.W.Ls Book List (TBR)

31 Mar 2019

The Magical Readathon has a number of events throughout the year, and involve a reading challenge. I've been in a bad place with reading this year, and just can't seem to concentrate, so I thought that I would take up the challenge and sit my OWL examinations. If you are not aware of what the OWLs are, they are the examinations which take place in the fifth year at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. and all students must complete the exams. These are followed by the NEWTs in the seventh year, and are much harder. Following the first Magical Readathon of 2019, which takes place for the duration of April, I will then hopefully pass and be able to sit my NEWT exams later in the year.

Purchasing Your First Home - Location, Location, Location*

20 Feb 2019

*COLLABORATIVE POST

When it comes to purchasing your own home, research is really important. Whether it is house prices, or location, it is important to scope out the current price market in the area that you wish to move to. I currently live in Leicestershire, and we are home owners. We were able to purchase our first home with the Help to Buy Scheme, and have lived here for 5 years now. When finding our home, there was so much information to look at, and it was hard to know what we needed to find out, and what we needed to save money for. Today I thought I would talk to you about the things that you might want to look into when it comes to purchasing your very own home.
