Turning a Toddler Room into a Room for a Child

*Disclosure - This is a paid collaboration*

I can't believe that I am saying this, but Elise is about to turn four! It has been an amazing four years, and she has grown and changed so much. We are so proud of her every day, and she really has turned into my little best friend. With Elise turning four, we know that we will soon need to update her room a little bit, so we've been on the hunt for some new furniture and bits and pieces to make her room magical. I thought I would share a little dream wish list with you, for items we would love for her, and some that we will actually be purchasing.

FURNITURE

Elise would love an exciting bed. She is still in a toddler bed at the moment and I think she will actually fit in it for quite a bit longer. She is small for her age, so we are definitely getting our money's worth out of the toddler bed...we only paid £15 for it on a local selling page and then painted it white! This time though we would love to get her an interesting bed, maybe one with a slide or even one shaped like a house, like one that we have seen on Bed Guru

We are also considering more of a day bed style, or one where there is a second bed hidden underneath so she can have sleepovers with her cousins.

We are also looking to update her toy storage and will be taking a trip to Ikea in January. She currently has a cute clothes rail and chest of drawers, but she is outgrowing this so we will be looking for a new wardrobe for all her clothes. She also needs some storage for all her arts and crafts bits, as she loves creating things and has an abundance of supplies!

We'd also like some better storage for her books, as she has a really nice collection and we read to her every night before bed. She is just getting to the age where is is learning to read herself, so I would love a dedicated section for her own reading books too.

DECORATING

We are hoping to paint Elise's room in her favourite colour - light blue. She has already had input on how she would like it decorated, with light blue walls and everything to do with rainbows and the character Rainbow Dash. She would also like lots of personalised artwork that I have made to go in her room. I recently took up diamond painting, and she would love more images. I've already completed a Grinch one for her room, and I am waiting for some Rainbow Dash ones to be delivered so I can start work on them.

She would also like some new lighting in her room. Elise sleeps with a night light and music and her elephant is getting pretty old now so we would love to set her up with some new sensory lighting to help her sleep.

I want Elise to have lots of input into how her new room will be, as it is her room after all! She loves spending time in her room, and I want it to be accessible and comfortable for her. I'll keep you updated with the progress we make, and film a room tour once we have completed it!
